Nice bounce back win for the Eagles after tough losses in the Rainbow Wahine Classic to number eight Stanford and Florida Gulf Coast. AU came out and took out its frustrations on the Retrievers, exploding out of the gate with the game's first 15 points and never looking back. AU led 30-8 after one, led 38-8 early in the second and basically put it on cruise control the rest of the way for its 23rd straight win at Bender dating back to the end of the 2016-17 season. Everyone played, giving the starters some much-needed rest after logging three games in three straight days in Honolulu.
Kaitlyn Lewis and Elina Koskimies each scored 16 to lead the way. Liked what I saw from a couple of the freshmen who got in tonight, Maddie Doring and Taylor Brown. It will take them a while, but the talent is definitely there.
AU is now 4-3 overall on the season, and only has one game in the next two and a half weeks--next Wednesday at Virginia. The Eagles won't be home again until after Christmas. But they no doubt need a break after that long trip.
