The NCAA today released its first NET ratings, which is a new ratings system that replaces RPI as a primary means of judging college basketball teams. AU is 146th among D1 schools, fourth-highest among Patriot League teams after Holy Cross (109), Colgate (122) and Lehigh (133). I have no problem with those four in that order at the moment. Cross has played consistently well. My only quibble with NET is that it currently has Bucknell at 295, which is crazy. It doesn't matter if this was compiled before Bucknell won at Vermont over the weekend; there's no way the Bison should be ranked that low either way.

I'm with you NJJ on the positive side of AU being perhaps the 4th best team in the Patriot League at this point in the season. I'd love to know the math that goes in to the calculation of "NET" as well as the ratio of math to eye. Perhaps it's similar to the ratio of Schrute Bucks to Stanley Nickles.
