Two great defenses. Navy is first in the PL in points allowed (53.8 per game), seventh in the country in field goal percentage allowed (.348) and first in the PL in steals (10.5 per game), and is coming off a solid win against what had been the hottest team in the league, second-seeded Bucknell. AU was third in the PL in scoring defense (56.6 points per game),second in field goal percentage (.419) and first in three-point percentage allowed (.281). Meanwhile, AU led the PL in scoring average (66.2 points per game). We're undefeated (15-0) at Bender this season. Something has to give.
I'm confident in this team. They've met every challenge every time this season. We have great seniors in Emily and Maria and Michael, and Cecily has been outstanding in the paint in the first two tournament games. We will need her to rebound again the way she has against Lafayette and Army. I expect a tough, tough, low-scoring game in which we will face adversity at some point. But I believe we have a great coach in Megan Gebbia and she's pushed every right button all year. Hopefully, there's a big crowd (the students are on Spring Break and you never know how many will stay and show up). This has been such a fun team to watch all year. They have one more mountain to climb. I think they're ready to take their rightful place as the best AU basketball team of all time by finishing the job and reaching the NCAAs.
