AU lost its first round NCAA matchup to 12th-seeded Michigan in straight sets, 25-13, 25-22, 25-12, Thursday night. As the score indicates we were only truly competitive in the second set, which we led 20-17 and had a chance to close out, but the Wolverines were dominant at the net and raised their game when they had to. AU finishes the season with a 27-8 record, and an incredible run to a 14th NCAA berth in the last 16 years, despite losing three likely starters before the season began due to injury. This was one of Barry Goldberg's best coaching jobs, and he deserves a ton of credit.
Next year and the future looks very bright, with returning PL Player of the Year Aleksandra Kazala--and, hopefully, with our three injured players returning, including two 6-foot-plus hitters--leading the way. This is, again, the most successful athletic team in the school's history, and we should support it every way we can. Congrats on a great season!
