Nice game for the most part, though it did get a little dicey for a while at the end. Did anyone else notice that Steve Lumpkins was at the game yesterday? I guess he wanted to be there for Senior day and the guys he came in to AU with. On the other hand, he does have 5 years of eligibility to play 4 years, if he applies for redshirt status.

Is there some reason to think his MLB career is going so badly that he'd quit baseball this early to return and play basketball?

BTW, under NCAA rules, players automatically get five years to play four - so no application is necessary. Under PL rules, if he has not been enrolled in school this year, then a 5th year would also be automatic. If he has been enrolled in school, then AU would have to demonstrate that a return for another year has an academic purpose.

I have learned never to say never, but there is no way JJ will ever have Lumpkins back on the team. The details of his departure ruptured the trust between him and the team, and that will not be able to be repaired, especially considering that we would be talking about a much different season had he stayed.

JJ would let Attila the Hun play for him if he could get him 14/8 and shoot 65% like Lump. Those guys are hard to find in PL. Him and Tony together could be a force.
